Cornerstone Inn Bed and Breakfast

So, I meant to write this post quite a while ago but time just got away from me. So much has gone on lately that sometimes I just need a moment to catch my breath. Mike has been feeling the same way lately. We decided that we needed a little kid free getaway so that we could just kick our feet up and hopefully catch up on some lost zzzzz’s. Mike had been given a gift certificate for a free stay at the Cornerstone Inn Bed and Breakfast as a graduation present from his cousin, Christine. With my 35th birthday quickly approaching, it seemed like the perfect excuse to get away (to the next town over that is, Cornerstone is in Washington Il). We booked our room for the 24th of March and little did I know Mike had something else up his sleeve. He had checked into the room early and came home to pick me up and take me out to dinner before returning to the inn. When we arrived to the restaurant we walked around the corner and (much to my surprise) there were all of our closest friends and family! Mike had planned a surprise party for me!! Needless to say I was completely overwhelmed and touched. He had thought of everything (the food, the cake, balloons… everything). Have I mentioned how blessed I am to have such an amazing husband? He is just the sweetest! After the party was over we were still floating on cloud 9 and more than ready to unwind and reminisce on the events of the evening. When we stepped into our room I was completely blown away. The pictures definitely do not do it justice! We stayed in the Song of Psalms room and it had a music theme. It was perfectly appointed. They did a great job of combining old world charm with modern conveniences! Not to mention the place was spotless. We spent time unwinding in the 2 person Jacuzzi and then called it a night in the big beautiful wrought iron bed. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a B&B bed but it was sooo comfortable. In the morning we sprung out of bed feeling like a couple of teenagers, no 30someting back pain for once. I forgot to check and see what kind of mattresses they use but it was the best night sleep we have had in a long time. Our stay included 2 vouchers for breakfast downstairs at Denhart’s. With our vouchers we were able to get a huge breakfast and drinks. We both got eggs cooked to order with hash browns, biscuits and gravy, 2 meat sides and toast. I forget the name of the dish but it was so delicious. Neither one of us could come even close to finishing it all. It was so nice to get a breakfast that wasn’t greasy or under-cooked. After our wonderful breakfast we went back up to the room and got our things together to head out but we both agreed that we will definitely be returning again very soon. Before heading home we had some fun walking through some of the shops on the square. It was just the perfect little getaway that we needed and a perfect way to kick off this next year. We highly recommend Cornerstone Inn Bed and Breakfast!

The Breakfast was called “Banker’s Opening Ball Special” it was “Two Eggs, Any Style, Hashbrowns, Biscuits and Gravy, Country Sausage, Bacon and Toast” all that for $8.99, it was amazing. Thanks again Christine, we had the best time just the two of us.
